Welcome to Our New Hometown

First of all, I promised the “other innkeeper” – my husband, Bob, that I would not “over sell” Westcliffe – but my love and fascination for our unique new hometown is obvious. No, we are not Vale, Telluride or Crested Butte. Westcliffe is not your “typical” Colorado tourist spot. Westcliffe is a short 1.5 hour drive from Colorado Springs Airport up a scenic trail or a short 12 hour drive from Dallas (you fellow Texans KNOW that is nothing!). My only curiosity is why Westcliffe has not been more widely discovered as a wonderful place to escape the summer heat of Texas. . .or Kansas . . .or any other lower elevation !
Westcliffe IS a historic mountain mining town. It continues to be settled by visionary individuals creating a unique sense of place. Westcliffe is a community with the fore thought to put conservation districts in place, in cooperation with ranchers who continue to ranch, to preserve the mountain valley, incredible vistas and wildlife.
You can walk into the local bank and still see dusty cowboys in their chaps. No need for pretention here – clean faces and comfortable clothes are the norm. Meet up close and personal incredible artists who have chosen Westcliffe as their home for its quality of life. You’ll experience a community that cares more about art than paved roads; who cares more about you as person than what you wear or drive; that has more churches than bars. When you’re ready for such a place – you’re ready for Westcliffe. Want to learn more?  Go to http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/06ed9aed#/06ed9aed/1
